GRANITE
DESCRIPTION

Granite is nearly always massive, hard and tough, and it is for this reason it has gained widespread use as a construction stone.

What colors does granite come in?
Granites can be pink to dark gray or even black, depending on their chemical and mineral composition. Green-blue, light gray with blue tint and dark red granites are the most valuable.

Where would I use granite?
Due to its excellent chemical, physical and mechanical qualities – granite is the most suitable stone for floor tiling in places of high traffic, as well as for external wall cladding and facades. Granite is very resistant to wear and soiling. For this reason, granite is often used for making kitchen countertops, stairs, and bar tops.

Granite has been extensively used as a dimension stone and as flooring tiles in public and commercial buildings and monuments. With increasing amounts of acid rain in parts of the world, granite has begun to supplant marble as a monument material, since it is much more durable. Polished granite has been a popular choice for kitchen countertops due to its high durability and aesthetic qualities.
